The easiest way to get around is by moped
Sandy beaches can be found on the north west coast and south east tip of Aitutaki
The picture postcard beaches are found only on the offshore islands
Lagoon cruises depart 9am and cost from NZ$100 per person including lunch
All beaches are open to the public
Not all beaches are good for all-tide swimming or snorkelling
The best snorkelling is along the north west coast and offshore islands
The best swimming is at the south-east poiunt and offshore islands
Arerenga has the only shops and banks
There are a dozen good restaurants around the island
The west coast is leeward with more sun, less wind and sunsets
The southern side of Aitutaki is mostly bush and plantations
The eastern side of Aitutaki has villages but a rocky / tidal coastline
